jj vanceSacramento Self Help Housing (SSHH) is the proud recipient of the 2015 JVance Stewart Community Service Award! This award honors the founding member of the DSP Navigator program, JVance Stewart, who passed away in 2011. Through DSP’s Homeless Outreach Navigators, Jay was committed to helping people get a second chance at life and was an advocate for those who needed it the most. The DSP Navigator Program measures success by the number of people they have connected with housing and services - because housing is the only way to solve homelessness.

SSHH was recognized for their impactful initiatives to assist homeless individuals, including their Cathedral Shelter program, Common Cents Interim Housing Program and the Serial Inebriate Program. Their programs have assisted more than 500 individuals with their transition off the street into housing. SSHH has been asset to the Navigator team for more than 10 years and is essential to the DSP Navigator Program's mission and the success of Downtown.
